자타가 공인하는 골수 미드족. 미국 드라마와 시트콤을 제대로 보기 위해 영어 공부를 시작했다는 그는 입에 착착 붙은 생활회화 예문을 찾는데 도가 텄다. 수년간 영어 연구원 활동을 하며 다양한 영어 교재의 컨텐츠 개발에 힘써오던 중 미국인들이 진짜로 쓰고 있는 예문만 모은 책이 없다는 생각에 이 책을 만들게 되었다고 한다. 그녀는 이 책으로 영어가 골치 아프고 외울 것 많은 학문이 아니라 간단하고 쉬운 언어가 되길 바란다고.
